Do discuss the school's
prom rules
with your child - and the consequences of violating them -
Do make sure your child
has
a
plan for the evening
- both
before
and after the Prom -
and that you know what it is.
Do make sure your child
takes a well-charged
cell phone to the event.
Do know who's driving.
If it's a limo, check their policy
on allowing alcohol in the
vehicle.
DON'T
rent hotel/motel rooms for after-prom parties.
Hosting your own after-prom party? Some parents assume that
high-school seniors will
inevitably drink on prom
night and feel it's safer for
them to do it under parental
supervision. It is ILLEGAL to provide or allow minors
access
to liquor even if it is in your own home.

- Massachusetts Law is very specific in that
it is illegal for licensed drivers under
the age of
18 to operate a vehicle
during the hours
of midnight and
5:00 AM unless accompanied
by a parent or legal guardian.
Make appropriate transportation
arrangements if your child
will
be
under the age of 18 on Prom night.
